As student, the engineer Rolf Schär developed a vertical dart game. Ferromagnetic arrows were to be accelerated with the help of electromagnetic forces to hit the dartboard lying on the ground over a distance of approximately 5 meters. The project lacked the possibility of simply adjusting the trajectory alignment and was therefore rejected. More than 25 years later, the project is experiencing its revival.
- Trajectory alignment not adjustable
- Single application, study project
- Movement/control not finally released
Resolution / The way forward
Fortunately the solution and development of Nozag did not take 25 years. After the project was resumed, a discussion with Nozag's experts quickly led to the right approach of a solution. The throwing station can now be placed and even aligned. The precise alignment of the trajectory is done mechanically using a rotary knob. Thanks to the installation of a worm wheel set, the angle can be finely adjusted from 35 to 85 degrees and the trajectory can be plumbed accordingly. This allows the vertical dart to be used properly. The arrow flies silently the distance of over five meters, the flight altitude is about three meters and the target range measures about 40 cm.
- Mechanical alignment of the flight altitude
- Throwing angle adjustable from 35 to 85 degrees
- Worm wheel set allows precise alignment
- Manual transmission is controlled and braked
- A student’s project celebrates premiere / revival
«My ambition suddenly made me want to take up this almost forgotten project again and look for solutions. A consultation at Nozag brought the flash of inspiration and the solution. The achievement of the trajectory alignment then was quickly born.»

Product / Details
Worm wheel sets, consisting of a worm and a worm wheel, are available in various designs and materials. The standard components are used for right-angled power transmission with simultaneous bridging of height differences. We are happy to support you at any time with engineering, calculation and optimization of drive solutions.
