Challenge / Situation
Reishauer AG in Wallisellen is a worldwide leader in the manufacture of gear grinding machines. A wheel mounting cart has been developed for changing the grinding wheels (about 40 kg). This cart is intended to assist the operator to mount and change the grinding wheels in the machine without effort, in an ergonomic way. The ErgoMount wheel mounting cart operates with a changer arm that must be lifted, lowered and swiveled very accurately. The design of the ErgoMount must be as compact as possible, mounting space is thus very tight.

  Resolution / The way forward
  The space conditions demanded that a rather small dimensioned worm gear screw jack can be used. The basis is a worm gear screw jack NSE5-RN with 5 KN lifting force and compact housing, which was supplemented with a reinforced screw. In this way, the critical buckling force is increased despite the desired stroke length. At the same time, this combination gives the necessary smooth running and stabilises the precise and fine positioning of the interchangeable arm. To prevent creeping wear in the spindle area, the duplex flange nut has been supplemented with a safety catch nut. This protects against any breakage of the duplex nut. In addition to the components mentioned, Nozag also supplied the flexible coupling between the motor and the worm gear screw jack.
