Challenge / Situation
In transport, the roll-off container system is very much in use, especially in combined road-rail transport. The large containers are ideal for a wide variety of goods and can be emptied via rear doors. The opening device is designed for manual operation which causes the opening lever to recoil, resulting in injuries and lost time injuries.

Resolution / The way forward
Thanks to Nozag's engineering support, the rear doors are now unlocked by a modified worm gear screw jack. Nozag developed this solution for the Thurgau waste incineration plant in Weinfelden. The developed worm gear screw jack with a stroke of one millimetre per drive shaft revolution can easily be operated with a cordless screwdriver and opens the mechanism slowly and regularly. The design consists of standard components from the modular worm gear screw jack system and has successfully been used for some time. Injuries and lost time injuries are no longer an issue.
